Amy Austin

AmyDo you ever listen to a song over and over, you know all the words but your heart doesn’t really connect to them until you REALLY listen? I love music. I have music playing in the background of my life almost all day long. There’s a song I’ve been hearing on the radio that I recently connected to in an amazing way and it’s changing me. The song is Made New by Lincoln Brewster. As believers we know the only way to be made new is through Jesus. He is our healer, our strength and our hope for salvation. I know all that so maybe that’s why I didn’t really tune in to all the lyrics of the song. One day the chorus hit me like a ton of bricks. This is what it says:

The line that caught my heart was YOU HOLD MY HEAD UP! We as humans mess up all the time. We say things we wish we could take back, we lie, we get angry, we want to throw in the towel some days and just say forget it; I’ll never be good enough. And guess what, Satan wants you to dwell in your sin, in your past, in your shortcomings and in your weaknesses. Dwelling there opens the door wide open for shame and guilt; two feelings that are not from God! These feelings cause us to want to hide, put our head down and simply give up. BUT, we have a PERFECT FATHER that LOVES us despite our sin and HE IS HOLDING OUR HEAD UP; so why do we resist His loving hand?

I can tend to get wordy when I write but I want to cut right to the chase with you today. Stop believing the lie that you aren’t worthy and ALLOW GOD TO HOLD YOUR HEAD UP! Let Jesus remind you of who you are, not Satan! I would love for you to take a moment and listen to this song. I pray that at the end of it you are walking with your head held high because you know who you belong too, Jesus Christ! And if you are reading this and you don’t belong to Jesus, I pray you will consider opening your heart to His unconditional, never condemning love. Don’t wait to get your life cleaned up to invite Jesus in; allow Him in so He can cleanse you and HOLD YOUR HEAD UP!

Lord, I pray we will allow You to hold our heads up and we will stop resisting Your love and grace. I pray we will have ears to hear YOUR voice as You remind all of us of who we are and how YOU see us! Lord we love you and we are so very thankful for the gift of Your grace, mercy and eternal salvation because of Your Son Jesus. And it’s in Jesus’ name we pray, AMEN!

2 Corinthians 5:17, Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

John 8:11, “Then neither do I condemn you.” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”
