Martha Baker

Martha Have you ever wondered why you've been saved. Is it so you get a free ticket to heaven? If you have been saved by God's grace, how should your life look? These are questions I've pondered over the years and as I've studied the scriptures, I see more and more what our life should look like.

"For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died; and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf." (2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭14-15‬ NASB)

In looking at this scripture, we see WHY jesus died for us: "....he died for all, SO THAT they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose from the dead." Wow! We are to be living FOR Him. We've been bought with a price and it's no longer living for ourselves. The love of Christ controls or compels us. His love should be the guiding factor in how we live our life.

Let's ask ourselves some tough questions: What if I lived my life compelled by Christ's love? What if His love compelled my thoughts and actions? Am I living my life controlled by His love? If that is why He died for me, what am I doing about it?

Father God, Jesus had a purpose in giving His life up for us and I desire to live my life controlled by His love. Teach me and show me how to do that. Help me to abide in you so that Your love can control my very thoughts and actions, so that others would see You in me. Amen
