Elizabeth Austin

Elizabeth Definition of "transition: "Process or period of changing from one state or condition to another." Or "to undergo or cause to undergo a process or period of transitions."

Have you ever given any thought to the transitions we go through in life? We transition from the womb into the world; from babyhood to toddler to school age to adulthood. These are natural transitions, but each one has certain definite characteristics. As adults, we may change from student to career person, from the state of singleness to being married, then of becoming a parent, grandparent, great-grandparent and on and on and on.

I have been thinking about transitions in my life. I have experienced a number of big changes recently, such as: my daughter and her family moving away to Michigan, selling our 5 bedroom, 3 bath quad level house and moving temporarily into a small place that I call our cozy cottage; and leaving my job. I am transitioning from adrenal fatigue, which carries with it some other symptoms, back to health, which my doctor says may take at least a year. This is a big transition! It can often feel overwhelming and exhausting!

Some of you may have found yourselves in some kind of transition as well and are asking as I did, "where am I going and what do you want me to do, God?" I had a choice to just sink under the stress and confusion or seek the Lord for strength. If this is a place that you find yourself in, God is there with you, and He will get you through.

I encourage you to get your eyes off the circumstances of the transition and press into the presence of the Lord seeking Him in his Word, in prayer, in personal worship, and just sitting and listening to Him for a word of direction, encouragement, or correction. Listening is a very important part of our relationship with God. I am experiencing a wonderful relationship with the Holy Spirit and He is speaking to me and giving me ways to circle people and situations in prayer. God wants to use his children to minister to those who are in need whether it is physical, emotional, or spiritual. If you are his child, trust him. He will meet you where you are.

"Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know." Jeremiah 33:3
